Who we are and what we do.
Educate A Child (EAC) is a non-profit organization with a mission to help children in impoverished areas in the Philippines get an education.
EAC does outreach work to find children in the surrounding communities who want to continue studying but have been forced to stop due to lack of money. EAC also identifies current students whose families are in financial difficulty and at risk of dropping out of school for financial reasons.
EAC finds sponsors from around the world to help these children. Sponsors are paired one-on-one with the children they are sponsoring so that they know exactly who their money is helping.
Throughout the year, several projects and workshops also take place to enhance the learning of the children while in school.
Currently EAC is helping children to attend San Jose Christian Colleges in San Jose City, Nueva Ecija in Northern Luzon, about 4 hours north of Manila in the Philippines. In addition to having their tuition fees paid for by the sponsors, the children also receive free transportation to and from the school.
100% of all donations go directly to the children's tuition fees, or when specified, to specific projects. None of the funds are used to pay salaries, administrative expenses or overhead costs, which are paid for by private funds thanks to two angel fund donors.
When EAC first started, 72 million children didn't attend school simply because they couldn't afford it. 11 million of those kids were in the Philippines.
EAC has been a part of a global effort to lower these numbers, and we are happy to report that progress is being made. Currently 56 million children don't attend school because they can't afford it. That number is still much too high.
Please help us lower that number one child at a time.
Now is your chance to make a difference in a child's life.
